Men's Golf Finishes Tied For 20th At Taylor Made

WAIKOLOA, Haw.- - The Oregon State men's golf team concluded the final round of the Taylor Made Invitational Friday with a team score of 894 at the par-72 Waikoloa Kings' Course in Waikoloa, Hawaii, placing the Beavers in a tie for 20th.
"We had a very disappointing tournament," said OSU head coach Brian Watts. "We wanted a much higher finish this week.
"We had a great opportunity to compete. The course was great and the conditions were great, but we just struggled in all aspects of our game."
Georgia Tech, ranked fifth in the latest Golfweek poll, led wire-to-wire and finished the tournament with a 23-under 841. Fourth-ranked UCLA came in second, finishing three strokes behind.
Oklahoma's Anthony Kim took home individual medallist honors after firing 5-under 67s in the final two rounds and posting a three-round total 11-under 205.
Freshman Ryan Gilmour, after firing a first-round 71, struggled in his final day and finished tied for 63rd with a 5-over 221.
Senior Sean Deacon ended up tied for 78th after a final-round 1-under 71 and finished with a total score of 224.
Junior Cameron MacKenzie posted a 226, sophomore Brian Kelley carded a 230, and junior Brad Simpson ended up with a 231.
"We know what we need to work on and we'll work hard over the next two weeks to get ready for our next tournament," said Watts.
The Beavers play next at the Cleveland Golf Classic, March 1-2 in Westlake Village, California.
