Men's Golf Wins Second Tournament Of Season

STOCKTON, Cal. - Oregon State University men's golf team captured its second straight tournament title of the season, winning the Pacific Invitational. The Beavers led the field with a 54-hole total of 881.
"We are very happy with the win. It's great for our program," Beaver Head Coach Mike Ketcham said. "Winning the two tournaments will build our confidence going into the rest of the season."
Anthony Arvidson shot a final round of 5-over-par-77 to slip out of first place, finishing the tournament tied for second. Eric Dahm shot a 74, a team low of the day, to tie for 12th at 223.
"The golf course played extremely difficult today," Ketcham said. "It was hard to get the ball close to the hole, in my opinion, any score under 75 was a good number today."
Only one golfer turned in a sub-par score on Tuesday, UC-Irvine's Jimmy Miringoff finished the day with a 1-under-par-71.
The rest of Oregon State's squad, John Lepak, Dustin Wayne and Dave Crowell, tied for 21st at 226.
"We struggled today as a team, and fortunately we played good enough on Monday to hold on for the victory. If we are going to meet the goals and expectations that we have set for the end of the season, we need to get better as a team in the final nine holes of a golf tournament," stated Ketcham.
Califonia's Han Lee finished in first-place with a three-round total of 213, which included rounds of 69 and 71.
The Beavers head to Albuquerque, NM, for the William Intercollegiate on Oct. 1-2.
