SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Oregon State couldn't put away several terrific scoring opportunities and the result was a 1-0 loss at Sacramento State in MPSF Mountain Division men's soccer Friday afternoon. The Beavers (4-11-0 overall, 0-4-0 MPSF Mountain) next game will be their home finale for 1999, as they meet Cal Poly on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lorenz Field at Valley Stadium.
Against Sacramento State (4-12-0, 2-3-0), OSU owned a 16-13 edge in shots - including 9-3 in the first half - but was unable to capitalize.
"We had a lot of missed opportunities," Oregon State head coach Dana Taylor said. "We had a chance to score very early, within the first two minutes, and failed to take advantage of that and many other opportunities."
The game's only goal came when the Hornets' Matt Scammacca scored from eight yards out off a cross by Rene Schmidt.
