Induction:
1991

John was a two-time All-American selection, the only OSU player to ever achieve such status at the time of his playing career. He played in the 1957 Rose Bowl game against Iowa.

He also was an outstanding wrestler, finishing second at the NCAA Championships as a freshman.

He was Inducted into the State of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1983.
