John Eggers

John served as the sports information director at OSU for three decades. His work with sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the nation helped Terry Baker win the Heisman Trophy, the first ever by the player west of the Mississippi River.
He was inducted into the State of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1981 and the College Sports Information Directors of American Hall of Fame in 2010.
In 1963, the Portland Rose Festival Association knighted Eggers for his efforts on behalf of college athletes in Oregon.
