Cecil Ira became the second Beaver All-American in at least two different seasons. He was selected to the American Baseball Coaches Association Third Team in 1962 after going 11-4 with a 1.23 ERA. He added Third Team honors again in 1963 as he went 10-2 with a 1.82 ERA. His 1.23 ERA in '62 as of 2020 ranks as the fifth-best single-season mark in program history. His 12 complete games that season remains a school record as of 2020. In 1963, he set the school record with five shutouts.He signed a professional contract with the Chicago White Sox.
