Sammie Stroughter burst onto the scene in 2006 as a big play threat at wide receiver and as a punt returner after two seasons in the shadow of two-time All-American Mike Hass. Stroughter was named a third team All-American all-purpose player by the Associated Press following one of the best seasons by a wide receiver in Oregon State history. Stroughter converted 74 receptions into 1,293 yards including a 223-yard game at Washington. In addition, Stroughter returned three punts for touchdowns during the season to set a school record, including a memorable 70-yard return in one of the biggest upsets in OSU history over No. 3 USC. He was drafted by the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the conclusion of his career at Oregon State.
