Dave GambeeĀ is one of only five Beaver basketball players to be tabbed an All-American twice. He garnered those high honors in 1957 and 1958, and was also an All-Pacific Coast Selection both years.
The Corvallis, Ore., native led the Beavers to the 1958 Pacific Coast Title and to three Far West Classic Championships. He was the 1957 Classic MVP.
His final statistics include 1,468 points (18.8 avg.) and 828 rebounds.He scored a career-high 35 points in a 1957 game vs. Yale and had a career-high 23 rebounds in a 1955 contest vs. Northwestern.
He played professionally with St. Louis, San Francisco, Philadelphia, San Diego, Milwaukee, and Detroit.
Gambee was inducted into the State of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1980 and the Pac-12 Hall of Honor in 2010.
