Gus Lavaka received Freshman All-American honors from Pro Football Focus and Campus Insiders following the 2016 season. Lavaka, who stepped into the lineup at left guard in the season’s fourth game due to injury, helped solidify the Beavers’ offensive line for the remainder of the season. He went on to start seven of the final eight games, missing one due to an injury of his own. His play helped pave the way for OSU’s ballcarriers to establish a school record 5.2 yards per carry in 2016 topping the previous record of 4.9 ypc that had been set in 1960.
