Xavier Crawford received Freshman All-American honors from several outlets including the Football Writers Association of America, USA Today, Athlon, Campus Insiders at the conclusion of the 2016 season. Crawford started all 12 games at cornerback for the Beavers and accumulated a team-high 50 unassisted tackles and was fourth overall with 70 stops. He tied for the team-lead with 10 pass breakups and was the top freshman defender for that category in the Pac-12.
