Cecil Ira became the second Beaver to earn All-American honors in at least two different seasons. He was selected to the ABCA’s third team in 1962 after going 11-4 with a 1.23 ERA. He was also selected to the ABCA’s third team in 1963 as he went 10-2 with a 1.82 ERA. His 1.23 ERA in 1962 still ranks as the fifth-best single-season mark in program history. His 12 complete games that season, meanwhile, are a program record. In 1963, he set the program record with five shutouts.
