Joy Selig is one of three gymnasts in Oregon State history to earn seven All-America accolades and the only to receive first team honors for all of her honors. In addition, Selig is one of three OSU gymnasts to earn All-America status all four years of her career.
Selig is Oregon State's only gymnast to earn multiple NCAA titles. As a sophomore in 1989, she claimed the national title on the balance beam and placed fourth on the floor exercise. She returned in 1990 successfully defending her national title on the beam and also securing a gold medal finish on the floor.
Selig completed her career in 1991 finishing seventh in the all-around and third on the floor at NCAA Championships.
She earned All-American status for the first time as a freshman in 1988 finishing as the national runner-up on the floor.
She was inducted into the State of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 2010 and was part of the class of 1997 entered into the Oregon State University Athletics Hall of Fame.
