Mwanga was a NSCAA and College Soccer News All-American in 2009. The forward earened All-Region and Pac-12 Player of the Year honors in his sophomore campaign with the Beavers, and was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2008. Mwanga was an All-Pac-10 selection in both of his seasons at Oregon State.
Despite going pro after his sophomore season, Mwanga worked his way into the Oregon State record book during his two seasons, scoring career 18 goals and recording six multi-goal games. In his landmark sophomore season, he tallied 14 goals, five of which were game-winners.
Mwanga was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, and was selected by the Philadelphia Union. He played professionally from 2010-2016, including six seasons at the MLS level. Mwanga notched a total of 17 professional goals.
