Wally Palmberg

The legendary Washington head coach Hec Edmundson called Wally PalmbergĀ the best player on the West Coast during his era.
Palmberg was a 1936 All-Pacific Coast Conference and All-American. He scored 187 points in 1936 to break the Northern Division scoring record. At the time he was the leading vote recipient in Northern Division history.
Following his playing career, he coachedĀ Astoria (Ore.) High School to a pair of state titles in 1941 and '42, and Oregon Tech for seven seasons, winning three league championships.
The Portland, Ore., native was inducted into the State of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1981.
