
Fifteen Women’s Rowers Earn Academic Honors

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Oregon State women's rowing team placed 15 student-athletes on the Pac-12 Women's Rowing All-Academic team when it was announced by the Conference on Tuesday.
The 15 academic honorees matches the impressive haul the Beavers made on the academic front on the conference's all-academic team in 2017.
Five Beavers earned first team accolades including seniors Olivia Ashby (marketing) and Paige Phillips (public health), juniors Eliza Adams (marketing), and sophomores Scout Sutton (environment economics & policy AND agricultural business management) and Abigail Watts (business). It is the second consecutive first team award Ashby.
Oregon State also placed four rowers on the second team list including senior Mimi Grosselius (merchandising management), juniors Alina Hagstrom (public health) and sophomores Cassy Lozano (biology) and Diana Oppenheimer (biochemistry and biophysics). It is the second straight all-academic honor for Grosselius, Hagstrom and Oppenheimer.
Earning honorable mention all-academic honors juniors Mimi Ballinger, Katie Descheemaeker, Claire Diller, and Maddie Vinson and sophomores Bailey Daniels and Mackenzie Rice. It is the second such award for Ballinger, Descheemaeker, Diller and Vinson.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and participate in at least half of their team's competitions.
