The honor is given annually to the nation's top collegiate shortstop
LUBBOCK, Texas – Oregon State junior Cadyn Grenier has been named one of 16 semifinalists for the Brooks Wallace Award, the College Baseball Hall of Fame announced on Thursday.
Â
The award is given annually to the nation's top collegiate shortstop. Grenier is one of two players from the Pac-12 Conference among the 16 semifinalists.
Â
The Henderson, Nev., native is batting .342 with 14 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 41 runs batted in. He is currently on a 25-game hit streak, which is the second-longest by an Oregon State player since 1977, trailing Jeff Brauning (1989) by six games.
Â
Defensively, Grenier's been stellar, committing just six errors while starting all 49 games for the 40-8-1 Beavers this season.
Â
The honor is his second recognition for his efforts on and off the field during the 2018 season. He was recently named a Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 selection.
