Beavers Edged By ASU On Saturday

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Steven Kwan and Cadyn Grenier each tallied three hits in Oregon State's 8-5 loss to Arizona State in front of 3,751 fans Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

The game changed hands multiple times, with ASU (18-24 overall, 10-10 Pac-12 Conference) going up 2-0 before the Beavers scored four to take the lead. The Sun Devils tied the game at four in the fifth, then watched as Cadyn Grenier put the Beavers (31-7, 11-6) up 5-4 in the fifth.

That run, however, marked Oregon State's final of the game as Arizona State scored the game's final four runs for the win.

Kwan singled in the third, fifth and seventh innings, while Grenier singled in the fourth, fifth and seventh. Grenier also drove in a run in the fourth.

Bryce Fehmel started for the Beavers and allowed eight hits and four runs in five innings. He did not figure in the decision.

ASU's Sam Romero worked 3 1/3 innings in a start, allowing six hits and four runs. He also did not figure in the decision. Dellan Raish, who held the Beavers to four hits in 4 1/3 scoreless innings, improved to 3-1 with the win.

Brandon Eisert was charged with the loss to drop to 3-3. He allowed one hit and three runs in 1 1/3 innings.

The teams combined for 27 hits and 10 walks on Saturday. They also combined to leave 23 on base, which is four shy of the most between Pac-12 teams this season. Oregon and Washington left 27 on base on April 15 in a 13-inning game.

Grenier To 14
Cadyn Grenier extended his hit streak to 14 games, tying Andy Armstrong for the longest on the team this season. The school record is 31 games by Jeff Brauning during the 1989 season. Nick Madrigal held the team's longest last season at 17 games.

That Didn't Take Long
Nick Madrigal singled in his first at bat Saturday, extending his hit streak to 10 games. The junior has hit safely in all five games since his return, and had hit safely in five straight in February.

Make That 38
Saturday's crowd of 3,751 extended the Beavers' streak to 38 games with 3,000 or more at Goss Stadium.
