
Anderson Named Candidate For Prestigious Honor

He is one of 30 players nationally who is a candidate for the award
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State outfielder Jack Anderson is one of 30 candidates nationally for the prestigious Senior Class Award, it was announced Wednesday.

The honor is given annually to a Division I senior student-athlete in baseball who has notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Anderson, who hails from Lake Oswego, Ore., is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic First Team selection as a kinesiology major. He was also named CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 last season. He has announced that he will attend Regis University after his playing career; he will be studying for a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

He is one of the most active Oregon State student-athletes at Oregon State in performing community service and is the liaison for the baseball team. He has participated in Beavers Without Borders, is baseball's representative for the #DamWorthIt campaign and visited Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland, among many other community service opportunities.

Anderson is also the Vice President for the Oregon State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Anderson has played in 18 of the team's 19 games this season, and carries a .286 average into this weekend's series with Washington. Â Over four seasons with the Beavers, the outfielder has played in 131 games, starting 94. During his tenure, he has collected 105 hits, including 11 doubles, one triple, one home run and 56 runs batted in.

The 30 candidates for the honor will be narrowed to 10 finalists in April, with voting by fans, media and coaches helping determine 2018's winner. The winner will be announced during the College World Series.

Oregon State returns to Goss Stadium at Coleman Field for a three-game series against Washington that opens at 7:05 p.m. PT on Friday.
