Madrigal and Mulholland have now earned multiple preseason honors
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State junior infielder Nick Madrigal and sophomore left-handed pitcher Jake Mulholland have been recognized by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-Americans, as announced on Monday.

Madrigal has been selected as the first-team second baseman while Mulholland is a reliever on the second team.

Madrigal, a native of Elk Grove, is coming off a season where he batted .380 with 22 doubles, four home runs, 40 runs batted in and 16 stolen bases. He finished the 2017 season as a unanimous All-American, was named the Pac-12 Conference's Player and Defensive Player of the Year and also earned the program's first-ever collegiate Golden Glove Award. A sociology major, he was also named a Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention selection.

The preseason selection marks the fourth for Madrigal leading up to the 2018 season. He has also been recognized by Collegiate Baseball, Baseball America D1Baseball.com.

The honor is the second of the preseason for Mulholland, a Snohomish, Wash., native. He was recognized as an honorable mention selection by Collegiate Baseball in December.

Mulholland earned Pac-12 honorable mention honors in 2017 after leading the Beavers with six saves. He tallied a 7-1 record and 1.20 ERA in his first season in Corvallis. Opponents batted just .183 against him, while he struck out 44 to 12 walks in 52 1/3 innings.
