Oregon State opens its 2018 season when taking on New Mexico in Surprise, Ariz. The Beavers and Lobos are slated to square off at 12 p.m. PT (1 p.m. in Arizona) Friday at Surprise Stadium.

The Beavers advanced to their sixth College World Series, and finished 2-2 in Omaha to place third nationally, per the polls. OSU went 27-3 in Pac-12 Conference play to capture its third crown in the last five seasons.Â

Oregon State is 78-30 all-time in season openers, and is 17-6 under head coach Pat Casey. The Beavers are looking to stretch their winning streak to nine games on opening day.

The Beavers open the season as a unanimous top-10 team for the second consecutive year. The 2018 Beavers open the year as the unanimous No. 2 team nationally.
Madrigal Unanimous Preseason Selection
Nick Madrigal, who has been named one of the top 10 position players at the collegiate level, is also a unanimous preseason All-American. He was named the Pac-12 Conference's Player and Defensive Player of the Year, becoming just the second student-athlete to do that in the last 20 years. Madrigal hit .380 with 22 doubles, four home runs, 40 runs batted in and 16 stolen bases in 2017.
