CORVALLIS, Ore. –
Freshman Frankie Hammoude
(Oakland, Calif.) is one of 28 athletes invited by USA Softball to participate at the 2019 USA Softball Junior Women's National Team Selection Trials.
Hammoude is currently in Clearwater, Fla. At the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex participating in a five-day tryout running December 28-January 1. During the selection process, the athletes will be tested in position drills as well as simulated games.
She is working towards one of the 20 spots on the 2019 USA Softball JWNT Training Team roster which will compete at the USA Softball International Cup. The roster will then be trimmed to 17 athletes to participate in the World Baseball Softball Confederation Junior Women's World Cup in Irvine, Calif. August 11-17, 2019. The athletes who make the 2019 roster will look to earn a third-consecutive WBSC Junior Women's World Championship title, after the USA claimed the previous two World Championships in 2015 and 2017.
"I'm really proud of Frankie," said OSU head coach Laura Berg
. "She did a good job at the open tryouts and now has an opportunity to try out for the Junior Team. It'll be fun to watch her play this weekend."
