Hallock, McNairy set for Pac-12 heptathlon

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Senior Kara Hallock and redshirt sophomore Saskia McNairy will compete at the Pacific-12 Conference Combined Events championships this weekend.

The two-day, seven-event heptathlon begins at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Whyte Track & Field Complex. It is the first time the Beavers have hosted a Pac-12 track meet since 1987.

"It is exciting to have a Pac-12 meet return to Corvallis," OSU coach Kelly Sullivan said. "We are looking forward to great performances from Kara and Saskia, and are thrilled our fans will be able to attend an outstanding meet for the second weekend in a row."
Hallock set a career-best of 5,379 points at the Jim Click Multis at Arizona on April 6-7. That score ranks third all-time at OSU, and fourth in the Pac-12 this season behind Washington State's Alissa Brooks-Johnson (5,616) and Liz Harper (5,420) and UCLA's Christina Chenault (5,420).
McNairy also set her career best of 4,708 at the Jim Click meet. That ranks sixth at OSU all-time, and ninth among athletes entered in this weekend. The top eight score at the Pac-12 championships.
The 100 hurdles (12:30 p.m.), high jump (1:15 p.m.), shot put (3 p.m.) and 200 meters (4:15 p.m.) are Saturday. The long jump (11:45 a.m.) javelin (1:15 p.m.) and 800 meters (2:30 p.m.) are Sunday.
Harper won the heptathlon at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships in February. Hallock was third, Chenault fourth; McNairy did not compete.

Also in the field with no 2017 scores are Lyndsey Schauble of Washington State; Mariah Slack of Colorado; Kendall Gustafson of UCLA and Alexa Harmon-Thomas of USC.
OSU will also host the 10-event men's decathlon, starting at noon on Saturday and at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. The 100, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400 are on Saturday, followed by the 110 hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500 on Sunday.
