Delgado, Griego, Crawford remain in rankings

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State junior 149-pounder Joey Delgado and sophomore 197-pounder Corey Griego are ranked by InterMat, The Open Mat and the Amateur Wrestling News this week.

Delgado (11-6) is ranked No. 13 by The Open Mat and Amateur Wrestling News, and No. 19 by InterMat.

Griego (13-7) is ranked No. 14 by The Open Mat, No. 18 by InterMat and No. 20 by Amateur Wrestling News.

Junior heavyweight Cody Crawford (13-4) is ranked 15th by The Open Mat.

The Beavers were not ranked in the Top 25 in the USA Today/National Wrestling Coaches Association's poll, which was also released on Tuesday.

Oklahoma State was ranked No. 1 by USA Today/NWCA, followed by Penn State, Iowa, Ohio State and Virginia Tech. Future OSU opponents in the rankings were Rutgers (11), Oklahoma (156), Stanford (17), Arizona State (19) and Drexel (25).

The Pacific-12 Conference also revealed its first power rankings this week. Delgado is ranked first in his weight class; Crawford is third. Kegan Calkins (125) is ranked fourth; Abraham Rodriguez (157) and Bob Coleman (184) are ranked fifth and Rodney Williams (165) and Weston Dobler (174) are ranked sixth.

Joey Palmer is ranked fourth at 141 but he will wrestle at 133 for the balance of the season. Joey Hathaway will take over at 141. Devan Turner was sixth at 134 but he is not expected to compete again this year due to an assortment of injuries.

The Beavers resume action at Northern Colorado on Friday; match time is 6 p.m. They conclude the road trip on Sunday with a noon dual at Wyoming.

They start Pac-12 action against Stanford on Jan. 30 with a 7 p.m. dual at Gill Coliseum that will be televised by the Pac-12 Network. They are five-time defending Pac-12 champions.

This year's Pac-12 Championships are Feb. 26, at Stanford. The NCAA Championships are March 16-18 at St. Louis.
