Oregon State and Portland meet for the 70th time in history with the Beavers leading the series, 53-16.
Only two of the previous 69 games have been played on a neutral court and the Beavers won both of those. The first was a 78-71 victory on Jan. 20, 1976 in a contest that was played at Cone Field House in Salem, Ore. Rocky Smith led Oregon State with 21 points, while Don Smith added 20 and Lonnie Shelton had 17.
The second was part of the Far West Classic at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, which Oregon State won, 61-55, on Dec. 29, 1981. Lester Conner had 19 points, five assists and seven steals for the Beavers. Jose Slaughter had a team-high 17 points to lead the Pilots.
The last meeting between Oregon State and Portland was played at the Chiles Center in Portland on Dec. 6, 2014 when the Beavers pulled out a 65-58 overtime victory. Gary Payton II
