Xavier Crawford Earns All-America Honors

Oregon State freshman defensive back Xavier Crawford was selected to the USA Today Freshman All-American team, it was announced Sunday.

Crawford, a redshirt cornerback from Pittsburg, Calif., had a Beaver team-high 50 unassisted tackles and overall was fourth on the team with 70 tackles. He also co-led the team with Treston Decoud for pass breakups with 10 and was the top freshman defender for the category in the Pac-12 following the regular season.

The public health major started all 12 games for a defense that made dramatic improvement from a year ago and will head into the 2017 season with players who accounted for 67 percent of the team's tackles in 2016 returning.
