Oregon State Soccer Teams Honored by NSCAA for Classroom Performance

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State women's and men's soccer teams were both honored as 2015-16 Team Academic Award winners by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Thursday. The award is given to teams holding a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The Oregon State women's soccer team checked in with a GPA of 3.38 during the 2015-16 academic year, while the men's team recorded a 3.14 GPA.

Junior Bella Geist led the Beavers in the classroom last season, earning Pac-12 All-Academic First-Team honors. Senior Annie Govig was also selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second-Team, while Sabrina Santarossa, Nikki Faris, Natalie Higgins, Kayla Latham and Emmy Rodriguez were all tabbed with Honorable Mention honors.

Junior Timmy Mueller has been an academic standout for the Beavers, earning CoSIDA Academic All-District and Pac-12 All-Academic First Team recognition last season. Senior Matt Arbogast earned Pac-12 Academic Honorable Mention last year as well.

The Beavers' men's squad is at home this week, taking on California on Thursday and Stanford on Sunday. The OSU women's soccer team is on the road for matchups with the mountain schools, facing off with Utah on Thursday and Colorado on Sunday.
