Harrison, Hendrix Homer Versus Lobos

SURPRISE, Ariz. – KJ Harrison hit his second home run of the season and Jeff Hendrix hit his first but Oregon State fell in a 7-4 loss to New Mexico Sunday afternoon at Surprise Stadium.

Harrison's home run found the bullpen in left field to give the Beavers a then two-run advantage. He became the first Beaver to hit home runs in back-to-back games since Dylan Davis against UCLA and Portland in May of last season. Harrison hit his first round-tripper in Saturday's 4-3 victory over Michigan State.

The home run pushed Oregon State (2-1 overall) to a 2-0 lead after three innings. His first-inning single started the game's scoring.

Hendrix hit his first of the year in the ninth. The two-run blast went to straightaway center with one down. It pulled the Beavers to within three.

New Mexico (2-1) scored the next seven runs after Harrison's home run. Luke Heimlich made his first career start and allowed four hits and a run over 4 1/3 innings.

The loss went to Kevin Flemer, who dropped to 0-1 on the year after allowing a sixth-inning home run.

New Mexico reliever Luis Gonzalez picked up the after going 4 1/3 innings. He did not allow a hit, walked two and struck out four.

The Beavers conclude their first week of play Monday in a 12 p.m. PT (1 p.m. in Arizona) start against New Mexico at Surprise Stadium. Live stats and audio can be found by visiting osubeavers.com.
