TUCSON, Ariz. – Laura Schaudt, Sara Almen and Arica Nassar all had nine kills but the Oregon State volleyball team dropped a match to Arizona in four sets on Sunday at the McKale Center.

Set scores were 25-23, 23-25, 14-25 and 14-25.

Nassar led the Beavers offensively, hitting .292 but Arizona held Oregon State (9-6 overall, 0-4 Pac-12 Conference) to a .114 hitting percentage as a team. The Wildcats (12-4, 2-2), meanwhile, hit .273 with Madi Kingdon, Jane Croson and Olivia Magill all had 13 kills to lead the team.

The teams were matched relatively well defensively, except in blocks where the Wildcats tallied 15 to the Beavers' four. OSU had 57 digs – with Becky Defoe's 13 leading the way – while Arizona had 59.

Oregon State took the first set, 25-23, behind Defoe's nine digs. OSU never trailed during the frame in which the Beavers hit .163 and held the Wildcats to a .079 percentage.

That first set win boded well for the Beavers, who came into the match 8-0 when taking a 1-0 lead this season. That, however, did not happen, as the Wildcats held off a late OSU surge in set two for a 25-23 lead.

Arizona hit .455 in set three and .344 in set four to claim the frames by 25-14 scores; by comparison, OSU hit .032 and .132, respectively.

The Beavers return home for a pair of matches next weekend. OSU hosts USC Friday night in a match that begins at 6 p.m. PT and which can be seen on the Pac-12 Networks. Oregon State also hosts UCLA Friday at 7 p.m. but will not be televised.
