CORVALLIS, Ore. - Jace Fry likes pitching at Goss Stadium, to say the least.

The freshman limited No. 12 Stanford to five hits and two runs in a complete-game effort Saturday as the Beavers defeated the Cardinal, 4-2, in the second game of a three-game series at Goss Stadium.

Fry held the Cardinal scoreless for 8 1/3 innings before a two-run double by Alex Blandino in the ninth put the Cardinal on the board. Fry, however, got the final two outs of the game to even the series at a game apiece.

The Beaverton native improved to 5-3 on the year after his 123-pitch outing in which he walked four and struck out two. In six starts at Goss Stadium this season, he's allowed just seven earned runs in 41 innings, amounting to an earned run average of 1.53, while going 4-1.

Blandino's double in the ninth snapped a streak of 31 1/3 consecutive innings for Fry without allowing an earned run at Goss Stadium.

Ryan Barnes served as the catalyst for the Beavers' offense, driving a 2-0 pitch over the left field fence to open the first for the Beavers (29-15 overall, 10-10 Pac-12 Conference). It was his first home run of the season and gave the Beavers the early 1-0 lead.

OSU added a run in the fourth when Jake Rodriguez drove in his 26th run of the season on a sacrifice fly to right.

The Beavers took advantage of a Stanford (29-13, 11-9) throwing error in the seventh. Kavin Keyes and Joey Matthews scored when Tyler Smith reached on an error charged to Blandino. The runs proved to be key as the Cardinal tallied its two runs in the ninth.

Dean McArdle started for Stanford and dropped to 3-2 this season after going just two innings. He allowed one hit and one run in a spot start.

Matthews finished with his second three-hit game of the season for the Beavers, who managed six hits off six Stanford pitchers. Austin Wilson was the lone Cardinal batter with a two-hit day.

The teams conclude their three-game series Sunday at 1:05 p.m. PT.
