Cathedral City, Calif. - The Oregon State softball team (7-5) battled against No. 12 Northwestern (7-3), but came up short, 7-3, Friday morning in day two of the Cathedral City Classic.

Five different batters earned hits, drawing three walks with sophomore Audrey Roderfeld (Vista, Calif.) and freshman Ashley Sanchez (Alameda, Calif.) chalking up the pair of RBI.

Northwestern scored first, picking up a run in the first inning before the Beavers answered back with a pair of runs behind Roderfeld's one-out single down the right field line. Senior Paige Lowe (Tustin, Calif.) scored after reaching on a sacrifice bunt turned single to give Oregon State a 2-1 edge.

The Wildcats tied things up at two all, but the Beavers regained the lead on Sanchez's RBI single to left field, scoring freshman Nikki Chandler (Houston, Texas), who reached on a walk.
