Jordan Campbell Joins Men’s Basketball Program
May 08, 2018 | Men's Basketball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State head coach Wayne Tinkle and his staff announced Tuesday the addition of Jordan Campbell who signed a Financial Aid Agreement to join the Beaver basketball program for the 2018-19 season.
Campbell, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound guard from Adelanto, Calif., joins a class that includes Kylor Kelley, a 7-foot, 215-pound forward from Logan, Utah, Warren Washington, a 6-foot-11, 210-pound forward from San Marcos, Calif., and Jack Wilson, a 7-foot, 230-pound center from Half Moon Bay, Calif.
Jordan Campbell
Campbell graduated from Adelanto High School in Adelanto, Calif., and is a three-star recruit by Rivals.com and 247 Sports. He averaged 29.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 4.1 steals during his senior season, while leading the team to a 22-3 record. Campbell scored a career-high 51 points on Senior Night and was a two-time Desert Sky League Most Valuable Player.
Wayne Tinkle on Jordan Campbell:
"We are very excited to add Jordan to our team. He's very athletic, mature and tough and can help us at both guard positions. He's a lefty and his athleticism and toughness, especially on the defensive end, will be a great addition to our team. He is a tremendous playmaker in the open floor and in the half court. He'll be a great complement to Stevie (Thompson Jr.), Ethan (Thompson) and Zach (Reichle)."
ESPN.com describes Campbell as:
"A rangy guard-type that affects the game in multiple ways (scoring, rebounding, active hands). He has a high motor as he attacks relentlessly in transition. He can slash his way to the rim and he possesses excellent body control while finishing around defenders. His passing is impressive in the open court and his head appears to be up while attacking defenders. Campbell is an intriguing prospect with a sold dose of upside due to his length, athleticism, motor and scoring prowess."
Campbell chose Oregon State "due to the relationship of the players and coaches. That is huge for me knowing I have a great group of guys who are going to hold me accountable, but also making sure my head is screwed on right on and off the court."
