McNairy, Corbitt Set for Pac-12 Heptathlon

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Junior Saskia McNairy and freshman Claire Corbitt are headed to California to compete at the Pacific-12 Conference Combined Events championships this weekend hosted by Stanford University.
The two-day, seven-event heptathlon begins at 12 p.m. on Saturday at Cobb Track and Angell Field in Stanford, Calif. The action resumes on Sunday at 11:45 a.m. for the long jump.
McNairy and Corbitt have competed in one heptathlon this year at the Jim Click Multis in early April. McNairy finished the event with 4,289 points, while Corbitt was not far behind with 4, 032. McNairy currently ranks 4th all-time in Oregon State's history in the event, while the freshman Corbitt sits in 8th.
The top eight finishers score at the conference meet; currently McNairy's point total at the Jim Click Multis ranks 12th in the conference, while Corbitt ranks 13th.
The Beavers will partake in the 100-meter hurdles (12 p.m.), high jump (1 p.m.), shot put (3 p.m.) and 200 meters (4 p.m.) on Saturday. Sunday's competition will feature the long jump (11:45 a.m.), javelin (2:30 p.m.), 800 meters (3:35 p.m.) and the 1,500 meters (4:50 p.m.).
Alissa Brooks-Johnson of Washington State sits atop the competitors with heptathlon scores. With 5,740 points. Others entered with 2018 scores are Kendall Gustafson of UCLA (5,691), Alyssa Thompson of Arizona (5,596), Lyndsey Lopes of USC (5,574), Maja Wichhart-Donzo of Colorado (5,433), Michaela Wenning of Colorado (5,247), Keira McCarrell of Oregon (5,161), Kylee O'Connor of Oregon (5,084), Lindsey Schauble of Washington State (4,908), Asha Culhane of California (4,501) and Drianna Mustin of Colorado (4,347).
Also in the field with no score this season is Christina Chenault of UCLA and Hannah Rusnak of Washington.
A small contingent of Beavers will head south to Eugene on Friday for the Oregon Twilight Meet at Hayward Field. This season Oregon State has set three school records and posted 20 all-time top-10 marks.
