SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – It was another come from behind victory, but the Oregon State softball team clinched the series with an 8-7 in game two over Utah at Dumke Family Softball Stadium on Friday evening.
The Beavers improve to 28-26 overall and 9-14 in Pacific-12 Conference action. Meanwhile the Utes fall to 20-30 overall and 2-21 in conference play.
Freshman designated player Hope Brandner led the way with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate and two RBI. Third basemen McKenna Arriola and second basemen Camryn Ybarra each had two hits.
Mariah Mazon started in the circle for the Beavers going 3.1 innings in a no decision with three strikeouts. The Beavers had a lead, but following a big offensive inning from Utah a pitching change was made with Meehra Nelson (15-10) coming in and securing the win for OSU.
Scoreless after the first inning the Beavers struck first with a run in the top of the second. A leadoff single from Ybarra followed by a sac bunt put the freshman in scoring position.
