April 24, 2018 | Men's Golf
ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. – Kyosuke Hara fired a 3-under 68 to lead the Oregon State men's golf team in the third round of the 59th Annual Pac-12 Championship on Tuesday.
Â
The Beavers are in 10th place, and five strokes ahead of Oregon, with a 7-over 352-360-360--1,072 at the par-71, 7,130-yard Rolling Hills Country Club.
Â
USC (27-under 1,038) has a five-stroke lead over Arizona State (22-under 1,043) for the team title. Justin Suh of USC (16-under 197) has built a six-stroke lead over George Cunningham of Arizona (10-under 203) for the individual crown.
Â
Wednesday's final round will begin at 8 a.m. off No. 1 and No. 10 and live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Â
"We played some good golf again today," Oregon State head coach Jon Reehoorn said. "We just didn't execute the shots we needed to on key holes to post a round of 4 under or 5 under. Instead it ended with a 5 over.
Â
"Our guys have made a ton of birdies this week. We need to keep doing what we are doing and I'm confident we will be ready to play a good round tomorrow."
Â
Hara, a sophomore from Honolulu, Hawai'i, had eight birdies on Tuesday that helped him move 17 spots up the leaderboard and into a tie for 24th place with a 1-under 72-72-68--212.
Â
"Kyosuke was really good today," Reehoorn said. "Anytime you make eight birdies in round you are doing a lot of things well."
Â
Freshman Spencer Tibbits is also tied for 24th place with a 1-under 69-70-73--212.
Â
Freshman Keaton Gudz had been steady throughout the championship with an even-par 70-72-71--213 for a tie for 28th place. His best collegiate finish is a tie for 43rd place at the Desert Mountain Collegiate earlier this spring.
Â
Sophomore Shawn Lu is tied for 38th place with a 3-over 69-73-74--216, junior Trevor Yu is tied for 60th with a 7-over 72-74-74--220 and junior Tom Kerkvliet is tied for 67th with a 10-over 76-73-74--223.
Â
Television coverage of the Pac-12 Championship will air in a tape-delayed, 30-minute special debuting on Sunday, May 6 at 10 a.m. on Pac-12 Network, Arizona, Los Angeles, Oregon and Washington.
