Beavers Celebrate Season at Annual Banquet

Oregon State hands out team awards
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State women's basketball team celebrated an outstanding season Sunday evening, as the team hosted its annual awards banquet.
The Beavers recognized a number of individual and team achievements at the event, including the squad's Elite Eight run in the NCAA Tournament. Marie Gulich was highlighted for numerous honors, including ESPNW All-America recognition, as well as All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year honors. Mikayla Pivec, Kat Tudor and Katie McWilliams were all recognized for earning All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. Pivec was also acknowledged for her CoSIDA Academic All-District nod, as well as her Pac-12 All-Academic First Team plaudit.
Oregon State also handed out its annual team awards at the event. Gulich was honored as the team's Offensive Player of the Year, and also took home the Top Rebounder Award for the second-straight season. The senior averaged 17.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game this season, and shot 65.2 percent from the floor, the second-best mark in Pac-12 history. Gulich put up 14 double-doubles on the season, and is amongs Oregon State's career leaders in points, rebounds and blocks.
McWilliams notched Defensive Player of the Year honors. The junior was named a Pac-12 All-Defensive Honorable Mention, after starting every game and leading the Beavers with 32.7 minutes per contest. Oregon State led the Pac-12 in defensive field goal percentage this season for the fifth consecutive year.
Joanna Grymek was picked as the team's Most Improved Player. The 6-foot-6 center played in 31 games on the year, and shot 57.6 percent from the floor after transferring to the Beavers from Seward County Community College.
Pivec was tabbed as Oregon State's Carol Menken-Schaudt Teammate of the Year. The Lynnwood, Wash. native started at the point guard position this year for the first time since seventh grade, leading the team with 169 assists. Pivec put up 11.1 points per game on the year, and led all Pac-12 guards with 7.1 rebounds per contest.
