Beavers In Fifth Place At Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Oregon State women's golf team is in position to post another top-five finish after playing well on Saturday at the competitive Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational.

The Beavers shot a 20-over 301-295--596 in the 6-count-4 format at the par-72, 6,319 Ohio State University Golf Club and sit in fifth place with 18 holes to play.

No. 29 Illinois leads the 14-team field with a 3-over 579, while No. 16 Kent State is second with a 9-over 585, No. 12 Michigan State is third with a 16-over 592 and No. 15 Washington is fourth with a 17-over 593.

The final round of the two-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. ET (5:30 a.m. PT) on Sunday and live scoring is available at golfstat.com.

The Beavers opened the spring with a fifth-place showing at the Westbrook Spring Invitational and followed that with a third-place effort at the Meadow Club Women's Intercollegiate, a fourth-place mark at the Entrada Classic and a fifth-place finish at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic.

Freshman Amanda Minni led the Beavers with a 2-over 76-70--146 to put her in a tie for eighth place. A native of Delta, B.C., Minni's best career round is a 3-under 69 at the Westbrook Spring Invitational this past fall and her best collegiate finish is a tie for 26th place at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic this spring.

Freshman Ellie Slama was steady as usual with a pair of 2-over 74's and is tied for 13th place with a 4-over 148. She has a chance to record her third career top-10 finish.

Senior Susie Cavanagh played better in the afternoon that helped her jump 25 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 20th place with a 5-over 77-72--149.

Sophomore Nicole Schroeder is tied for 40th place with a 9-over 74-79--153, junior Olivia Benzin is tied for 54th with a 12-over 77-79-156 and sophomore Mari Nishiura finished the 36-hole day with a 22-over 82-84--166.

Pimnipa Panthong of Kent State and Grace Park of Illinois are tied for first place with a 3-under 141.
