Hara, Lu Lead Beavers At ASU Thunderbird Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. – Kyosuke Hara and Shawn Lu each posted a 3-under 139 at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational on Saturday to lead the Oregon State men's golf team.

Hara posted scores of 71-68 and Lu had rounds of 73-66 at the par-71, 7,032-yard ASU Karsten Golf Course to put both of them in a tie for ninth place.

Lu will go for this third consecutive top-10 finish after placing in a tie for fifth at the Duck Invitational and a tie for 10th at The Goodwin. Hara has recorded one career top-10 finish, a tie for sixth as a freshman at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational.

The Beavers sit in eighth place, and ahead of three Pac-12 teams -- Utah, Colorado and Washington State - after shooting a 3-over 290-281--571. The 3-under 281 in the afternoon was tied for the third-best second-round score in the 17-team field.

Arizona State and UNLV share the team lead with an 18-under 550, while Shintaro Ban of UNLV and Yannik Paul of Colorado lead a packed grouping for the individual crown with a 9-under 133.

The final round of the two-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 7 a.m. on Sunday and live scoring is available at golfstat.com.

Freshman Spencer Tibbits is tied for 48th place with a 4-over 71-75--146, junior Trevor Yu is a stroke back with a 5-over 75-72--147 for a tie for 52nd and freshman Keaton Gudz is in a tie for 79th with a 12-over 77-77--154.
