April 12, 2018 | Women's Gymnastics
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State gymnastics program completed its 2018-19 recruiting class with the addition of Kristina Peterson, head coach Tanya Chaplin announced Thursday.
Â
"We are very excited to welcome Kristina to the Oregon State gymnastics family," Chaplin said. "Kristina is a wonderful addition to our 2018 recruiting class. She first caught our eye because of her outstanding gymnastics, but we became even more impressed when we saw her work ethic and enthusiasm for her teammates as they performed. She is a fantastic team player and that is what college gymnastics is all about."
Â
Peterson, the daughter of Jonathan and Kyoko Peterson, recently won the 2018 Washington State Level 10 All-Around title. She finished first on the uneven bars and second on vault, balance beam and floor exercise as well. In 2017, Peterson won the all-around at the USAG Region 2 Championships including securing event titles on bars and beam and added a second-place finish on floor and third on vault. She finished 18th in the all-around at the Level 10 Junior Olympic Championships last year.
Â
Peterson trains at Metropolitan Gymnastics under coaches Yulia Hancheroff, Guennadi Komissarov and Cathy Sutherland.
