Dawson Leads Oregon State at Stanford Invite

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Highlighted by Destiny Dawson's record setting performance in the javelin, the Oregon State track and field team took part in two competitions on Friday, splitting duties at the San Francisco Distance Carnival and Stanford Invitational.
The majority of the action for the Beavers took place at Stanford. For the second time this season Dawson has set the Oregon State school record in the javelin. She set the current record of 155-feet, 6.5-inches on March 16 at the Lewis & Clark Spring Break Open, and today reset that mark with a throw of 163-feet, 8-inches.
High jumpers Amy Hilger and Alexa Harris went five and six in the high jump, respectively. Hilger and Harris each cleared 5-feet, 3-inches.
Jumps specialist Ann Wingeleth made her outdoor debut at Stanford. In the long jump, the redshirt sophomore took 11th in her division, jumping 17-feet, 1.5-inches.
The Beavers only event of the day at SFSU was in the 1,500 meters. Kristiane Width took third in her heat with 4:30.98. Sara Christianson (4:39.99) and Rebecca Ledsham (4:41.64) placed 9th and 10th, respectively.
