Beavers In Fourth Place With One Round To Play

KAPALUA, Hawai'i – The Oregon State women's golf team sits in fourth place through 36 holes at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic on Tuesday.
The Beavers are in position to post their fourth top-five finish in as many tournaments this spring after posting a 22-over 301-297--598 at the par-72, 6,022-yard Kapalua Bay Course.
Hawai'i leads the 13-team field with a 3-over 579, while No. 29 Louisville is second with a 5-over 581 and Long Beach State rounds out the top three with a 12-over 588.
The final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 7:45 a.m. Hawai'i time (10:45 a.m. PT) on Wednesday and live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Three Oregon State players -- senior Susie Cavanagh, sophomore Nicole Schroeder and freshman Ellie Slama -- each carded a 2-over 74 in the second round. Junior Olivia Benzin was a stroke back with a 3-over 75 and sophomore Mari Nishiura improved her score by 10 strokes from the opening round with a 4-over 76.
Cavanagh is tied for 13th place with a 4-over 74-74--148, while Schroeder (76-74), Slama (76-74) and Benzin (75-75) are all tied for 23rd with a 6-over 150. Cavanagh and Benzin have each made 26 pars, tied for the second most in the 69-player field
Freshman Amanda Minni, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 33rd place with an 8-over 78-74--152.
Four golfers are in red figures through 36 holes, led by Louisville's Lauren Hartlage with a 4-under 140.
The Beavers opened the spring season with a fifth-place showing at the Westbrook Spring Invitational and followed that with a third-place effort at the Meadow Club Women's Intercollegiate and a fourth-place mark at the Entrada Classic.
