Former Oregon State standout is one of six additions to the pool
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Former Oregon State standout Sydney Wiese has been added to the USA Basketball National Team Pool, head coach  Dawn Staley announced Wednesday.
Â
Wiese was one of six players added to the pool by the USA Basketball Women's National Team Player Selection Committee, bringing the total pool to 34 athletes. The 2018 USA World Cup Team is expected to be selected from the USA National Team pool, and the 2018 FIBA World Cup will be held Sept. 22-30 in Tenerife, Spain.
Â
Wiese made her impression on the committee at the USA Training Camp in South Carolina in February. She was also invited to join USA's National Training Camp last September, but was unable to participate due to the Los Angeles' Sparks run to the WNBA Finals. The guard played for the Stars and Stripes at the World University Games in 2015, helping the USA win the gold medal.
Â
Wiese is one of 14 players in conference history to make the All-Pac-12 Coaches Team four times. The Phoenix, Ariz., native, who was named to the watch lists for the Wooden Award, Wade Trophy, Ann Meyers Drysdale Award and Lieberman Award, is the Pac-12's career record holder for 3-pointers. Wiese finished her career fifth in Oregon State history in career points, and holds the school record for career assists. Wiese led the Beavers with 15.2 points per game, as was among the top 16 in the nation in 3-point percentage during her senior campaign.
