
Yanish Named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Oregon State gymnast Kaitlyn Yanish was named the Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Week for March 6-11 when weekly honors were announced by the Pac-12 Conference office Tuesday.
Yanish, who hails from Chandler, Ariz., won both of her events in Saturday's Senior Day win over Michigan State. She tied her career-best with a 9.850 on the vault and added a 9.875 to tie for meet-high honors.
Thus far in her young career, Yanish has posted career-bests of 9.950 on the floor exercise, 9.850 on the vault and 9.800 on the balance beam. She ranks 15th in the nation on the floor and seventh in the conference.
This is Yanish's first career Freshman of the Week honor and is Oregon State's fourth all-time. Yanish is the first OSU gymnast to earn Freshman of the Week since Feb. 23, 2016 when Mary Jacobsen was honored.
Stanford's Elizabeth Price and UCLA's Peng Peng Lee received Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week and Pac-12 Specialist of the Week honors respectively.
The Beavers, who are ranked No. 13 this week, travel to Northern California this week to participate in a quad meet at Sacramento State. The Beavers will also face No. 17 Arizona State and UC Davis at The Nest on Friday at 7 p.m.
