Beavers Hit the Road for Regular Season Finales

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State wrestling concludes a grueling regular season schedule this weekend against two Pacific-12 Conference foes. On Saturday, the Beavers grapple the Cardinal of Stanford at 3:30 p.m., before taking on CSU Bakersfield on Sunday at 6 p.m.

The Beavers enter this week at 5-5 in dual competition, and 1-1 in the Pac-12. Oregon State rolled to victory over a newly revived Fresno State in its last outing, 33-3. The Beavers won nine of the 10 bouts, pushing the win-streak to three.
Stanford (6-4, 2-1 Pac-12) enters the weekend on a two-match win streak. The Cardinal grappled Fresno State their last time out, beating the Bulldogs 27-15. Stanford previously beat Cal Poly 23-14 to begin their run. The Cardinal have five wrestlers ranked in the NCAA Coaches' Panel: 125 - #21 Gabe Townsell. 157 - #19 Paul Fox. 174 - #9 Keaton Subjeck. 197 - #23 Nathan Traxler. 285 - #5 Nathan Butler.
Saturday afternoon's match will be the 43rd time the two programs have met in dual competition. Oregon State holds a commanding lead in the series, 40-1-1. Last season, the Beavers got the best of the Cardinal in Corvallis, 18-15.

CSU Bakersfield (5-9, 1-2), will wrestle Cal Baptist on Friday before taking on the Beavers on Sunday. The Roadrunners beat Cal Poly 28-15 in their last outing on Jan. 31. CSUB has five wrestlers ranked in the NCAA Coaches' Panel: 125 - #28 Sergio Mendez. 133 - #23 Sean Nickell. 141 - #26 Russell Rohlfing. 157 - #14 Coleman Hammond. 197 - #15 Matt Williams.

Oregon State holds a 24-12-0 series lead over CSU Bakersfield, with Sunday's match being the 37th time the two schools have met. Last season when the two met, Oregon State got the best of CSUB, 32-9.

Bresser is 17-4 this season and currently riding a three-match win streak. He has 13 bonus-point victories this season (6 falls, 4 TF, 3 MD).
Redshirt junior 197-pounder Corey Griego moved up one spot in the InterMat rankings this week to No. 15. Griego is ranked No. 18 by Amateur Wrestling News and No. 20 by TheOpenMat. He hasn't lost since Jan. 5 and is currently on a six-match win streak.
Amarveer Dhesi held steady in the rankings this week. The heavyweight sits as highly at No. 8 by InterMat. Dhesi has a pair of No. 10 rankings from WIN Magazine and TheOpenMat, and a No. 11 placing from Amateur Wrestling News.
