Senior also named to All-Pac-12 Team
CORVALLIS – For the fourth-straight year an Oregon State women's basketball player has been named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, as senior Marie Gulich was given the honor by the conference's media on Wednesday.
Â
Gulich, who was also selected to the media's All-Pac-12 Team, joins Ruth Hamblin (2015 and 2016) and Gabriella Hanson (2017) as Beavers to take Defensive Player of the Year honors in recent seasons. The Cologne, Germany, native splits the award with co-Defensive Player of the Year Jordin Canada of UCLA.
Â
Gulich has proven herself as one of the top players in the country this season, earning a spot on the Naismith Trophy Late Season Watch List. Gulich is shooting 66.1 percent from the floor this season, and is averaging 17.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest. She is currently riding a four-game streak of 20+ point performances. On the defensive end, Gulich leads the Pac-12 with 88 blocks this year.
