Beavers Back in Seattle for UW Invitational
January 24, 2018 | Women's Track & Field
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State track & field team continues its 2018 indoor season at the UW Invitational at the Dempsey Indoor Center this Friday and Saturday in Seattle.
"Two weeks ago we had some good things happen," began head coach Louie Quintana. "Ultimately, continuing to get good reps is our focus this weekend."
Competition for the UW Invitational begins on Friday evening and concludes on Saturday afternoon. This is meet number two of a four-meet indoor schedule for the Beavers that culminates with the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on Feb. 23-24. The MPSF Championships are also at the Dempsey Indoor Center.
Of those travelling, three Beavers will make their season debuts this weekend. Nicole Goecke and Kala Kopecek in the mile, and Tory Edwards in the pole vault.
"We are looking for patience and coachability, can the kids come off the track and listen and make adjustments," said Quintana when referring to expectations this weekend. "We are looking for our girls to stay very competitively patient." Â
Brigette Takeuchi will also run the mile after competing in the 3,000 at the season-opening UW Indoor Preview. Takeuchi recorded the No. 6-best time in OSU history in the event (9:47.84) in her first race for Oregon State. Gwyneth McMorris, who competed in the 800 meters at the UW Indoor Preview, finalizes the Beavers entries in the mile.
Two weeks ago, the Beavers set eleven all-time Top 10 marks at the previously mentioned UW Indoor Preview.
