
Jones and Mueller Taken in 2018 MLS SuperDraft

Jordan Jones headed to LAFC, Timmy Mueller headed to the Portland Timbers
PHILADELPHIA – Former Oregon State men's soccer standouts Jordan Jones (Pacific Grove, Calif.) and Timmy Mueller (Post Falls, Idaho) were taken in the third round of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft on Sunday. Jones was chosen by LAFC as the 47th overall pick while Mueller was selected by the Portland Timbers as the 63rd overall pick.
Jones and Mueller become the eighth and ninth MLS SuperDraft selections, respectively, in Oregon State men's soccer history. They join Khiry Shelton (NYCFC – 2nd overall – 2015), Will Seymore (FC Dallas – 56th overall – 2015), Emery Welshman (Toronto FC – 16th overall – 2013), Danny Mwanga (Philadelphia Union – 1st overall – 2010), Robbie Findley (LA Galaxy – 16th overall – 2007), Ryan Johnson (Real Salt Lake – 26th overall – 2006) and Alan Gordon (LA Galaxy – 53rd overall – 2004) as Beavers selected in the draft.
Jones and Mueller closed their Oregon State careers as one of the most prolific forward combos in school history. Between the two, the duo combined for 120 points on 52 goals and 16 assists in 142 career appearances, five All-Pac-12 selections, three All-Far West Region selections and five Pac-12 All-Academic selections.
A native of Pacific Grove, Calif., Jones buried 29 goals and added six assists in 75 career appearances over his four-year career in the Orange and Black and most recently led the Beavers to a 4-3 upset win over No. 20 Washington on Nov. 9 with his sixth career brace and eighth career game-winner. Jones also led OSU in goals and points for three straight years, and cracked the top-five of both career categories in school history.
A native of Post Falls, Idaho, Mueller posted 23 goals and 10 assists in 67 career appearances over four years at Corvallis and tied the school record with 10 career game-winning goals. Mueller was also the 2014 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and made the 2014 Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Best XI, was a College Soccer News Freshman All-American and was named to the Soccer America All-Freshman team.
