Beavers Defeat Idaho, Sweep Tournament

Oregon State won all nine the Beavers played in Idaho
MOSCOW, Idaho – The Oregon State volleyball team came into the week looking to end non-conference action on a high note before opening Pac-12 Conference play next week against Oregon and Stanford.

Oregon State defeated Idaho in three sets Friday night at Memorial Gym in Moscow. With the win, and the sweep, the Beavers won all nine sets they played at the Idaho Volleyball Classic. They also swept Tennessee Tech Thursday and Wyoming on Friday morning.

Set scores in the penultimate match of the tournament were 25-16, 25-20 and 25-16.

McKenna Hollingsworth posted her second double double of the day – and fourth of the season – in the win over the Vandals. She recorded 31 assists and 11 digs.
Â
Mary-Kate Marshall, who was named the most valuable player of the tournament, was one dig shy of a double double after finishing with 12 kills. In three matches in Moscow, she tallied 43 kills with 23 digs and three blocks. She hit .372 overall.

Joining Marshall in tournament honors were Lila Toner and Lanesha Reagan, who were named to the all-tournament team. Reagan tied Marshall for the team lead with 12 kills against Idaho, and added seven digs and one block. She finished in double figures in all three matches, and ended the week with 39 overall.

Toner, meanwhile, was one kill shy of a double double Friday night, finishing with 10 digs. The senior had 29 kills over the three matches.

Oregon State (7-4 overall) out-dug Idaho (5-7), 56-to-51, and finished with 10 blocks to seven for the Vandals.
Â
Kayla Ellis and Daniela Vargas led the way defensively for the Beavers. Ellis tallied a team-best 18 digs while Vargas set a career-best with a team-leading five blocks.

Oregon State finished the night with a .233 attack percentage compared to a .062 mark for Idaho. The Vandals ended the match at .000 in the third set.

The Beavers return to action Thursday when visiting Oregon in a match that starts at 7 p.m. PT on Pac-12 Oregon. The following night, Friday, Oregon State returns home to Gill Coliseum for a 7 p.m. match with Stanford. Tickets are available and can be purchased by visiting BeaverTickets.com.
