Cheshire has been with Oregon State since 2014
Oregon State outside hitter Kory Cheshire is a redshirt sophomore who hails from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. She has been a member of the program since 2014.

Do you have a nickname? If so, what is it and who gave it to you? And why did they give it to you?
"Kor is my usual nickname, no one really gave it to me people just call me that sometimes."

What do you like most about playing volleyball?
"What I love most about playing volleyball is the adrenaline I feel when I play, that aggressiveness and competitive nature it entails."

If you could change one thing about volleyball, what would that be and why?
"If I could change one rule about volleyball it would be not being allowed to touch the net at any point. I think this rule stops a lot of plays and is inconsistent."

At what age did you know you wanted to play volleyball in college? And what made you realize that?
"I realized that I wanted to play volleyball in college when I was flipping through channels and came across a re-run of the national championship game. Penn State was playing and I couldn't believe how good the players were and I knew I wanted to be that good too."

What does your uniform number mean to you?
"My uniform number has absolutely no meaning to me. What matters to me is the team name that I'm playing for whether that is Oregon State or hopefully Canada in the near future."

If you could meet one volleyball player, who would it be and why?
"If I could meet one volleyball player it would Micha Hancock. She's not only an amazing player but has an extremely hard work ethic that admire."

If you weren't playing volleyball, what sport would you play and why?
"If I wasn't playing volleyball I would be playing basketball. I played basketball in high school and enjoyed it. I like being able to jump higher than everyone else and get rebounds."

Who has had the biggest influence on your volleyball career?
"The person who has had the most influence on my volleyball career is my mom. She is my biggest supporter and I wouldn't be where I am without her."

What is the last movie you saw?
"The last movie I saw was Miss You Already."
What actress would play you in a movie? Why?
"If I could be an actress in a movie I would be Emma Watson because she's smart, talented and down to earth."

If you could play in any band, or take over for any singer, who would that be and why?
"If I could take over for any singer it would be Taylor Swift. I love her music and she's someone who advocates for people who are less fortunate."

What is the best part about living in Corvallis and the state of Oregon?
"The best part about living in Corvallis is that it's not too small of a town but it's also not too big. The state of Oregon reminds me of home which is nice as well."

What is your personal goal for the 2016 season?
"My personal goal for the 2016 season is to contribute to the team the best way that I can whether that is on or off the court while upholding our team values."

What is your team goal for the 2016 season?
"My team goal for the 2016 season is to go back to the NCAA Tournament."

What class has been your most memorable at Oregon State?
"My most memorable class at Oregon State was my first Crime and Justice class. It was an introduction course but I remember sitting down at my computer and being excited to learn because I enjoyed what I was learning about."

What is your major? And what led you to choose it?
"My major is Psychology and Sociology with an option in Crime and Justice. I chose this path for my degree because I'd like to work with the law in some form, but I also want to have a deeper understanding of human behavior."

After your playing career is over, what profession do you want to go into? Why?
"After my playing career is over I want to become a lawyer or go into some form of social work. I want to be able to give a voice to people who can't speak up and advocate for themselves."

What makes you the most excited, day in and day out, about being an Oregon State student-athlete?
"What makes me most excited, day in and day out, about being an Oregon State student-athlete is that every morning I get to wake up and do what I love to do most while getting a degree."

Community service ... list some events you have done. What has driven you to do them?
"Most of my community service involves giving back to the sport of volleyball. Whether that's coaching or playing with the kids at Boys and Girls Club. Sports, especially volleyball, has allowed me to do some incredible things in my life and I believe everyone should have those opportunities."

What do you want Oregon State fans to know most about you?
"What I want Oregon State fans to know most about me is that I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to play for Oregon State. I'm a hard working person and I'll do whatever it takes to represent our team, Oregon State and Corvallis to the best of my abilities."
