Do you have a nickname? If so, what is it and who gave it to you? And why did they give it to you?
"I would say that Kate is the most common nickname that I have. My family, teammates, and close friends are the main ones who call me this just for a short way to get my attention."
Â
What do you like most about playing volleyball?
"The thing I like most about volleyball is that there has never been one single play that has been the same. I love the fact that the sport is unpredictable and it requires a lot of teamwork."
Â
If you could change one thing about volleyball, what would that be and why?
"If I could change one thing about volleyball I would make it legal for the libero to set in front of the 10-foot-line."
Â
At what age did you know you wanted to play volleyball in college? And what made you realize that?
"I knew that I wanted to play volleyball in college when I was 16 years old. I realized that I would want to play volleyball in college because at this age I had just transitioned out of basketball and swimming and loved volleyball more than basketball and swimming combined."
Â
What does your uniform number mean to you?
"Once I transitioned from basketball and swimming to volleyball I was just given the No. 12. There is really no significance to it, but ever since I started playing the sport I have been No. 12."
Â
If you could meet one volleyball player, who would it be and why?
"If I could meet one volleyball player I think it would be Kerry Walsh Jennings. She is such an amazing athlete and always has such a positive attitude. She has dedicated her life to the sport and really focuses on getting better every single day which I really admire."
If you weren't playing volleyball, what sport would you play and why?
"If I weren't playing volleyball I would probably try to be a gymnast. I know that is pretty unrealistic considering I am really, really tall, but I absolutely love the sport."
Â
Who has had the biggest influence on your volleyball career?
"Bill and Judy Peer had the biggest influence on my volleyball career because they were the ones who really pushed me to my limits and gave me knowledge about the game that was really crucial to know when entering college."
Â
What is the last movie you saw?
"The last movie I saw was The Secret Life of Pets. I think it's absolutely hilarious."
Â
What actress would play you in a movie? Why?
"I am not really good with actors and actresses names, but if I could star in a movie I would have to play a mermaid or the movie would have to be filmed on the ocean."
Â
If you could play in any band, or take over for any singer, who would that be and why?
"If I could take over for any singer, I would take over for Carrie Underwood. I love all of Carrie's music and her voice is amazing, so taking over for her would be really cool."
What is the best part about living in Corvallis and the state of Oregon?
"The best part about living in Corvallis is the small town atmosphere. I love walking down the street and seeing people I know and striking up conversations here and there. Everyone knows everyone in this town and I absolutely love that. As for the state of Oregon, I love how adventurous people are. There are so many cool places to explore, so being able to go see all of these amazing places are a major perk."
Â
What is your personal goal for the 2016 season?
"My personal goal for the 2016 season is to become an All-American."
Â
What is your team goal for the 2016 season?
"The team goal for this season is to make it far in the NCAA tournament."
Â
What is your major? And what led you to choose it?
"I am a speech communication major with a business minor. Coming into college, I didn't know what I wanted to major in, so I chose speech communication and business because they were very broad and I felt that I could do anything with them later on in life."
Â
After your playing career is over, what profession do you want to go into? Why?
"After I am done playing I am not exactly sure what profession I would like to do, but I do know that I want to work with people and stay active in my job."
Â
What match do you look back to and remember fondly through your entire volleyball career?
"The match that I remember most in my entire career was the game against University of Little Rock Arkansas in the NCAA Tournament. This game advanced us to the Sweet 16 and we fended off about 7 match points so it was a very intense game."
Â
What makes you the most excited, day in and day out, about being an Oregon State student-athlete?
"Day in and day out, I am excited to represent my university. OSU, I feel like, has been known to be the underdog in years past, but I am excited to represent OSU and prove to people that we are not the underdogs or the giant killers but we are the giants."
Â
Community service ... list some events you have done. What has driven you to do them?
"I have done so many community service hours in my time here at OSU. Events that I have done include volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club, painting a house, meeting with the youth and getting them involved in sports, Reading with the Beavs, and my most memorable was Beavers Without Borders. I love making a difference in communities and getting youth involved in sports and this is the main driving factor to why I volunteer."
What do you want Oregon State fans to know most about you?
