The freshman batted .333 for the Beavers in 2016
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State second baseman Nick Madrigal was named to another Freshman All-America team on Wednesday when D1Baseball.com released its first and second teams.
Â
That makes four for Madrigal, who was recognized earlier by Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball, Baseball America and Perfect Game USA. He joins Michael Conforto (2012), Andrew Moore (2013), KJ Harrison (2015) and Drew Rasmussen (2015) as OSU players to be named to four different Freshman All-America teams.
Â
Madrigal, the Pac-12 Conference's Freshman of the Year, batted .333 in his first season with the Beavers. He played in 49 of the team's 54 games, and tied for the club's lead with 65 hits while accumulating 11 doubles, five triples, one home run and 29 runs batted in. He also walked 15 times to just 14 strikeouts – the least among the team's starters – while swiping eight bases.
Â
He is the lone Pac-12 player on the first team, and one of just two overall.
